Online fashion retailer Showpo was started by Jane Lu in 2010 out of her parent's garage in sunny Sydney, Australia. Jane had a goal of bringing on-trend, affordable fashion to women all over the world, and bootstrapped her way to becoming a global force. Showpo now sells to over 80 countries, and in 2018, was named Online Retailer of the year. Showpo loves creating a fun shopping experience for customers while leading the industry in marketing, data, tech, creative, and customer happiness. Showpo partnered with Reach to better compete on the global stage while ensuring that customers have the most seamless ecommerce experience possible.The Situation
In 2019, Showpo was hyper-focused on growing their brand in the USA, and began with a Coachella collection, a Los Angeles pop-up, and an affordable bridal collection. Showpo realized their current checkout was causing a lot of friction for their US customers.- Because Showpo only had an Australian entity, all US customer credit cards were being processed through an Australian bank. This led to additional processing fees and lower approval rates.
- Although Showpo was accepting payments in USD, because the transactions were processed cross-border, US customers were being charged surprise foreign transaction fees by their bank.
- Showpo was concerned that they were rejecting too many valid transactions due to suspected fraud, and that legitimate customers were being turned away.
